My favorite things: Florists

I am super excited to begin blogging about some of my favorite vendors in the area that I have had the opportunity to work with!! I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences and of course some gorgeous images from real weddings!  If you have a topic or a vendor you’d like to see featured, shoot me an email!!

So let’s dive right in with florists.  Real talk, when I planned my own wedding 10 years ago I had two florists to choose from in my small town.  While planning out this blog post and a future project, my husband mentioned that he wasn’t a fan of our flowers.  When I asked him why he said that they were just, boring.   I didn’t go with a florist that was a designer or a creative, I brought in a photo I had found online (this was pre Pinterest folks) of a rose bouquet and asked to match my bridesmaids dresses.  Florists now are so creative and are full of ideas and ways to make your wedding stand out and show off your personality!  My biggest piece of advice that I offer to all of my brides, plan your budget and not your flowers.  Have an open mind and sit down with your florist, go over your budget and your colors and let them be creative.  Some of the best bouquets I have ever seen were created this way.  Have trust in the professional and leave the Pinterest at home 😉

KD FLORAL AND GARDENS

I have worked with Raechel and her team on multiple weddings and projects over the last 3 years.  I’ve never been disappointed in what I’ve had to photograph at a wedding.   Their entire team is so much fun and they’re always a pleasure to work with.  I’ve even tried to get a part time seasonal job with them, but let’s be real I don’t have time to spare.  Located in downtown Bemidji and recognized by their landmark teal storefront their store is full of unique floral arrangements, fun gifts and the best paper products!  (If you haven’t checked out Rifle and Co, you need to!)

TJs FLORAL AND GIFTS

TJs Floral and Gifts is located in Walker, MN and I had my first opportunity to work with them for Taylor and Ashley’s wedding back in July.  And I wanted to include them on this list because I was so blown away by these bouquets.   I’ve seen sunflower bouquets done in the past and I seriously was never a fan so I do tend to get nervous when I hear that a bride is planning to use sunflowers.  But the team at TJs really did sunflowers justice and these bouquets had such a touch of elegance with them as well.

LITTLE BEE FLORAL DESIGN

Little Bee was another florist I hadn’t worked with before this summer but was very pleasantly surprised.  Again, I’m not going to lie that I get a little nervous when I see an unfamiliar florist on the vendor list for a wedding.  But again, I was pretty blown away by the bouquets for Tyler and Jessica’s wedding in June.  They had a blush and navy theme and the team at Little Bee created some truly elegant pieces for the bridal party.  I really loved the variety in each of the bouquets!
