I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, Friday weddings are awesome. Why are they so awesome? Friends and family arrive for your Friday celebration and there’s still two days left to the weekend to relax and have fun! Win win!
Matt and Jeanie’s wedding day was super relaxed with Jeanie’s only request that we do portraits somewhere green to match her overall theme of greenery. Portrait locations that work for the middle of the day can sometimes be a little hard to find but I had a few tricks up my sleeve.
Their ceremony took place at St Philips Catholic Church in Bemidji with a reception to follow at Bemidji Town and Country Club. When a photographer first hears that they will be shooting a wedding in a catholic church the first instinct can sometimes be to flinch a little. Catholic churches have the stigma of being dark, old and limiting for photographers. Enter St Philips in Bemidji, a newer construction, wide open with some gorgeous light coming in through the high windows. There are moments during the day that the light comes in just perfectly and it’s magical. It’s definitely not your typical catholic church setting.
Matt and Jeanie’s entire wedding day was stunning right down to the lantern centerpieces at the reception and flowing greens on the fireplace. They have quite the adventure in front of them with Matt’s hockey career overseas and I can’t wait to see where their paths take them!
Thank you so much for including me in your big day! Best wishes on your next big adventure!!
